Not Detecting New TV Shows
#1
I posted this in a thread in the Linux forum, but wanted to make a new thread since that one was older and I'm running the windows XBMC. I'm having an issue with XBMC detecting a few new episodes of True blood.

I used the autoupdater to update my build before trying this for the log generation, I've tried new regexps, and I've even tried renaming the files. There just not getting detected.

Some items of note:
- The first two episodes of the season have .nfo's. The second two that aren't getting put into the library do not.
- This is specific to true blood. Deadliest catch is NOT doing it - and only movie files are in that directory.

Any thoughts?

Please post full log using pastebin. Also, which scraper are you using? IMDB, theTVDB, etc.

Any thoughts?

Wait, are you saying that your True Blood folder is mixed in with your movies?

Sorry - movie as in video files. Incorrect terminology on my part.

It should read 'and only VIDEO files are in that directory'.

This looks interesting. Make sure there are no stray nfo files sitting around in there. Also, what is your directory structure?
Reply

The structure is simply (Show name)\(all episodes)

No subdirectories with seasons or anything of the like - I removed them because they caused issues perviously. Naming format is (showname) - S##E## - (episode title).(ext).

And am I wrong in thinking a directory can have files that HAVE associated .nfo's and files that don't? Otherwise I don't get how new movies will get detected and imported fresh...(i.e. without using an external scraper program).

Do those two folders (Survivorman and Star wars clone wars) actually have anything in them that's readable by XBMC? i.e. have you navigated to them in files mode and seen anything?

Does True blood have an tvshow.nfo?
If so, would you mind posting it's contents?

Yes, both folders have items in them. Every item has a .nfo however. What I normally do is import everything, fix any errors, and then export to individual files to ensure if I have a error or something happens I can reimport without having to refix everything.

Here's an example .nfo from the True Blood episodes that imported. The one's that didn't import do NOT have .nfos.

Also, feel free to ask questions require more advanced computer knowledge. I'm savvy so it might help in getting things resolved faster.

Few other items. These are all on a Windows Share via a Windows Home Server box.

Just echoing Necromancyr's problem - I had this exact same problem on the latest SVN Windows build.. would pick up new movies fine, would pick up new TV Shows fine, but if i added an episode to an existing TV show it wouldn't detect the new episode.

I'm pretty new to XBMC so thought it was user error originally but then noticed Necro and tjhobbes having the same problem at http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53489

I have a similar file format setup to Necro, TV Show\Season #\TV Show - S##E## - unlike Necro these files are stored locally on a 2nd HD (so I'm pretty sure you can rule out Windows Home Server being the issue), also the new episodes didn't have an associated .nfo file (adding an .nfo file made no difference)

I moved to a fresh Ubuntu install with XBMC last night so I'll post whether the same thing is happened with the latest linux SVN later today.

Wondering what's causing this still.

Vex, you said when you added .nfo it still didn't pick it up. What about just adding a file and an nfo at the same time for something completely new?

Doh, I've just started a new thread about this - completely forgot about this one. Damn I'm tired. At least I can confirm this is happening on R21936 on WIN32 and LINUX tho.

Depends what you mean by 'adding a file and an nfo at the same time for something completely new'.

On a lark, I took the new episodes from The Office (US)\Season 5 and instead created a new root folder called 'New\Season 5' and some of the files were then detected but obviously scraped incorrectly due to the root TV show folder being named incorrectly.
