XBMC Unmet Dependencies on Jaunty
#1
Hi everyone,

I've searched this forum/ubuntu and google trying to solve my issue but to no avail. I'm not the greatest at linux but any and all help would be appreciated.

I've been following this guide - http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53812 - to install Ubuntu minimal on my Acer Revo.

EDIT: The only time I differed from this guide was regarding the nvidia drivers - http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showpost.php?p...stcount=97

My issue is that everytime i go to "sudo apt-get install xbmc"

I get an error saying I have unmet dependencies with
xbmc-common
xbmc-skin-pm3-hd
xbmc-web-pm3

For the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong. When I try to install xbmc-common I also get a similar 'unmet' error for:

libfaac0

Any help is appreciated.

Why dont you just grab the xbmc-live iso and install it to hdd - it is minimial, fast and ready to go at once !
PointOfView Nvidia ION Atom 330 - TRANSCEND 2GB DDR2 DIMM 800MHz - G.SKILL 64GB SSD 2.5

To be honest I'm not sure why I havnt tried that way. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to running XBMC live vs. Ubuntu?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Managed to get the XBMC Live version working and installed to the hard drive.

Going to run some diagnostic stuff tonight to figure out how to squeeze the most out of the system.

Just curious if anyone knows of any threads about maximising the performance of the Revo?

I swear that some 720mkv files I tried last night from the internal HD were lagging here and there.

Dave.

For XBMC to install u need to select certain repositories, this normally is no problem but when u install Jaunty u get the choose what repositories to use.
So u need to add them manually to the sources.list if u didn't choose them then. (don't forget to apt-get update)
Keep in mind u do not mean the XBMC PPA's u add to the sources list.
