[AEON] HOW-TO extend Aeon fonts to display unicode glyphs font characters
#31
Hi guys,

Has anyone successfully got Korean fonts integrated with the default MQ3 english font? Otherwise how are people getting Korean, especially now that MQ3 is translated into Korean!

Thanks

XBMC Korean build includes some Korean fonts and Korean localized MQ3 have modified Font.xml file. Unfortunately You cannot see Korean characters with default fontset of MQ3. Any fonts included in MQ3 do not have Korean character glyphs. If you want Korean repo addon, check the repo addon sections in the Addon Help and Support Forum. If you can understand Korean, visit xbmc-korea.com.

Does anyone still have a copy of not_'s aeon_nox_unifonts.zip? The 4shared.com link no longer works and I lost my copy when re-installing windows.

Thanks in advance.

Oh man, I haven't checked this thread in years and I see people were asking me for a file. Sorry about that. I posted it again here:

I'm using those fonts with Aeon MQ 3 and they work perfectly.

Welcome back! This has indeed been a sought out font, not only because of the Japanese characters, but because it includes pretty much everything. Thank you, this is a keeper.

Joe4TheRecord, does this pack work with Aeon Nox too?

The skin.aeon.nox directory only seems to have 3 fonts contained

I made some that uses the three font files that come with Aeon Nox 4.0. I followed the instructions in the first post except I used DejaVu Sans Mono for the unicode characters.

I made a better one that has better support for Japanese characters, and I added a Korean character set.

Wow, that works great.
Would it be possible to add for instance the ✝ sign like the Jusitice album?

Could you tell me how you edit the file?
I spotted some other missing characters.

I basically followed the guide in the first post. Except when I merge the fonts I delete the the regular alphabetic and punctuation characters (characters 33-126) in the font with the character I want then I merge it into the MC360 font. I have found if I don't delete those characters then it messes up and weird things happen in XBMC. When I want to save I go to file -> generate font and then ignore all the error messages. I hope this helps, good luck.

Did you use the same settings for the DejaVu font ?
Code:
Ascent: 800
Descent: 200
Em Size: 1000

Yeah otherwise when merged the new characters will be twice the size of the original. if you rename the DejaVu font to MC360.ttf and put it in the fonts folder you can open up xbmc to test if it even has the characters you want.
