Just got SVN build working but Audio is very very low

Ok So I got the SVN build working the way it should with VDPAU and everything but now my sound output is much much lower then the previous version I had. I have to turn the TV up all the way to get anything audible out.

I'm running Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04
Architecture is x86
PPA Build
Revision 21936

Log = http://pastebin.org/7067

I checked all the volume settings in ALSA and they are all up.

And is the volume in XBMC turned up?

Also, that is not a full debug log. You've cut out the important parts.

And, you nvidia driver is too old. You should upgrade if you want VDPAU fixes.

I went to ~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log and that's what I copied from it. I'll copy it again but that's exactly what was in it. I'll update the nvidia driver, I downgraded because the guide I was looking at said SVN builds need 180.

It's still not the full log. Try again. Play the movie and then stop the movie and do other things.. Maybe even exit XBMC and then send the log.

Anyhow, did you make sure your XBMC volume is up?

Also, try the latest from the 185 series.

Sorry I forgot but yes the XBMC volume is all the way up. I installed the 190 series drivers as they were working really well for me before.

Also, exit to command line. (ALT+F3)

Login in

type sudo alsamixer or just alsamixer

adjust all volume levels to 100.

ALT+F7 to get back to xbmc

good luck

Ok looks like I got more info this time, http://pastebin.org/7088

As I said before the ALSA levels are all at 100 in both Alsamixer and inside Gnome.

Nope, you got LESS information this time.

Those are the last entries.

You should have log entries showing you exiting XBMC.

You are using passthrough which means the audio is controlled by the device that you are passing through to. So, if you are connecting to your TV, then your TV controls the volume.

Go disable passthrough in XBMC (for AC3 and DTS) and see the volume go up.

Another way to put it.. With passthrough, we don't touch the audio.

Believe I always had passthrough enabled. Either way going to have to give me a few....for some reason sound stopped working all together.

My DVDPlayerAudio also stopped working completely between today and a couple days ago. I could get about a 1/4 second of audio when starting a video, occasional navigation sounds, and nothing from speaker-test or mplayer (with hwac3 or pcm to alsa). I ended up rebooting my PC and the sound tests worked again. Went into XBMC, and PCM sound was great, went back turning on options one by one and when I changed renderer to VDPAU PCM sound stopped working. Setting to GLSL shader brought it back.

This is a debug log of startup, playing the movie 11th Hour with VDPAU, stopping playback, turning off VDPAU and playing the movie again. Only got sound on the second attempt. Note the video has 2ch aac sound so passthrough isn't an option, but I am using digital pcm over hdmi.

I don't have time to debug it tonight but I thought I'd throw out some possibly related data.
