If you guys cant wait for the new PPA SVN to be uploaded you can download it here:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-svn/p...rig.tar.gz

BUT!!!

you will have to compile and install it manually...However the instructions are inside the compressed file - refer to README.linux & README.ubuntu

Im a complete Noob and I managed to do it and it works. Also no more restarting when skipping files (dolby audio) and it a few audio problems too

Might as well make it easy...

Here is what I did
Code:
wget http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-svn/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/x/xbmc/xbmc_9.04.2+svn22437-karmic1.diff.gz

wget http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-svn/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/x/xbmc/xbmc_9.04.2+svn22437-karmic1.dsc

wget http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc-svn/ppa/ubuntu/pool/main/x/xbmc/xbmc_9.04.2+svn22437.orig.tar.gz

Then

Code:
dpkg-source -x xbmc_9.04.2+svn22437-karmic1.dsc

Open the control file and change the and change nvidia-180-libvdpau-dev to whatever version you have.

Finally

Code:
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -uc -b

If it says you are missing dependencies, just copy the output into aptitude and rerun buildpackage.

This will spit out nice debs for you and when the svn repo is back up, the transition should be seamless Smile

Your are right, it is a big advantage to stick to installing from packages. I have been trying to reasarch this a bit and could only find the ubuntu packaging guide. Did you find a good guide or did you know this already? I would like to read more.

just because I'm dumb to this stuff, does this work if I'm already using a Jaunty build ? (9.04) I've got 9.04.2 21936 installed, and the last 2 PPA's didn't publish right, and I'd like to update, but I see your links are based on the 9.10 ubuntu version....

I'm sure I had to google it the first time.

I used it a lot during the long freeze in Debian (when rolling out lenny) and to keep current with KDE in svn.
