I finally gave up on the generic 'MCE' remote that behaved like an HID device and went with a Hauppage 335 which worked beautifully out the box.
Ironically, the only thing the old remote did exactly right was wake the box from sleep - any keypress would cause the IR receiver to flicker and the box would resume from suspend.
Now that I've got a remote that works properly with LIRC the one thing it does NOT do is wake from suspend - the IR doesn't even flicker when I mash buttons.
Oddly, I've done a cat /proc/acpi/wakeup and found no S3 states in the output - only S4 and S5. My box wakes up very quickly from sleep, but perhaps it's hibernating to the thumb drive it's running off?
I don't really care, it'd just be nice to have it wake up via the remote.
Any ideas?
