Random Jerky Playback

Question
Using XBMC Live installed to hard drive. Viewing files from my local network on another PC. The front-end is an Athlon XP 2800+ with a Geforce 7800 GSOC 512/MB graphics card. This is probably the fastest AGP card ever. The server is a Phenom Quad-Core running XP Pro and 4GB of RAM. I guess the video of this one doesn't really matter.

Typically, everything is very smooth. Occasionally I will start a video and it is very jerky and the audio sync is way off. I can usually just hit 'Escape' and immediately relaunch the vid and it's smooth as glass for the whole movie.

Just wondering what might cause this random symptom?

A debug log while this symptom is occuring would be helpful for finding out what's happening with XBMC.

Sticky: [LINUX] HOW-TO post about a problem in a useful manner

If I had to speculate, it might be related to some of the following, server load, network congestion, cpu bottlenecking. The video card plays a small role, it's not heavily used for much other than OpenGL type stuff. I'm not sure of the specifics.
