Ubuntu 9.04 XBMC CPU usage
#1
Hi all,

I installed xbmc on my old laptop yesterday (Gericom Webgine XL with: Pentium4 2.8ghz processor, 512mb ram, Geforce4 Go 32 mb) and installed the restricted drivers ubuntu suggested (don't know if these are right but i have no idea wich one i would need to use instead). It runs fine most of the time but wen im in fullscreen it sometimes starts up with 100% cpu usage or it starts normally (about 20-30% usage) and after playing 2 video files or browsing thru the menu a bit it goes to 100% again, can't turn it off either not even with task manager it just freezes and is unable to close. I tried the "NoFlip" thing but has no effect.
Really hope someone can help me with this.

Your graphics card is too old, it's probably doing a bunch of OpenGL stuff we need on the CPU.

Well the weird thing is sometimes if works perfectly, i can watch tv shows thru plugins and just watch normal videos but sometimes it goes into 100% cpu mode, either playing a movie or just browsing the menu, and tbh i would think even a slow video card should be able to browse the menu atleast.
