[LIVE] How large can a Live install become over time?
#1
I think my system needs a bit a fresh install, my current set up is back from when I first got it, installed things, un-installed things. Am looking to do a fresh install but would like to have it on a SD card to leave the hard drive free for media without the worry of losing it when upgrading

Once all setup I would like to create an image of the SD card to allow me to keep a back up.

Would a 4GB SD card do or would that fill up quickly with artwork and things, should I go for a 8 or 16GB card?

How big does an install become overtime?

It depends on what else you are using it for. If you are looking for a simple xbmc appliance solution - ie. just xbmc i recommend installing openelec.tv on your sd car. It will give you a fully working xbmc appliance and only takes about 100mb or so to install.

4gb is enough, but i would maybe go for 8gb+. It depends on where you store fanart, thumbs, dds images, etc... 8gb should be plenty though.

Thanks for that.

I just use it as a standard XBMC set up. Having SABNZBd and a few nzb grabbers running but that's it.

Will get a 8GB card to keep me going!

Cheers
