Sound drop out on 9.04.1 with Revo
#16
I'm not sure if I got it.. Did this problem got solved or not?

I have the same issue when it comes to sound drops: Ubuntu Jaunty, XBMC SVN (a few days old), ALSA v1.0.21, e-mu 1820 soundcard.

Other sound issues are: Load pop when booting. No sound when resuming from standby (S3).

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Regarding sound drops I have had: It was a bad cable between the pci card and the dock that caused this:o

I still have the suspend issue though..

Hi all,

I just bought a Revo R3600 and installed XBMC (9.04.1) via the Live USB method (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53888) and I'm getting sound drops and in some cases a loud hiss instead of sound.

Unfortunately I'm a total noob on Linux (hence the easy install method) so know very little about linux or even how to update XBMC on it!

I can connect via SSH using filezilla, so thats a start - also as you may have guessed I'm a windows user to boot! (Please don't burn me!!)

It seems the first thing I need to do is update ALSA but I'm not sure how!

Anyway any help would be great.

Cheers,

Lumpsack

Update: I tried updating ALSA as per this guide: http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2009/0...unty-9-04/ but the problem persists.

Further to the above - which was vague I know (sorry!) here is my debug log: http://pastebin.com/m3804e742 - this was with sound dropping out just before I stopped playback.

Okay I tried some dirty hack - no idea if this is how you're supposed to update XBMC - I copied the .xbmc folder back to my PC then from the alpha1 USB stick I copied and renamed the dotxbmc folder. (I did try an update via USB but it keeled over)

I'm still getting sound drops, but I can now play the movies that had the cracking sound, so its a step in the right direction.

Tomorrow I should get the 2nd GB of memory and will be able to up the buffer to 512 (from 256) so maybe that will help too.

Unfortunatly not for this - I dropped live and went with a minimal linux install and installed XBMC to that and it worked fine.

Sorry but I wasn't getting any feedback so needed a working solution and sadly know very little about linux Sad

seems like its some buffer problem, hopefully someone looks into this but there are so many posts in this linux section that this thread will disappear again in no time Sad

anyone have a solution for the alsa error: -32 - Broken pipe on acer revo's ?

Sound is dropping for me on tvheadend streams and this is the error that appears in the log each time it happens. Really annoying tbh and a real show stopper for using tvheadend. Only noticed this with tvheadend streams.

Anyone else have this problem and find a solution for it?

Happens with both hdmi and optical.

I know this thread is for an old version of xbmc, but i still have this problem with dharma.

Have 3 nvidia ion pc's and its happening with all 3.

Having the same error and sound drops.

Alsa 1.0.23, latest xbmc-svn on asrock ion 330 hardware. Seems like a common problem but I can't seem to find any solution that actually works for me.
