Maybe its better to discuss this in XBMC for Linux and XBMC Live Specific Support, since it doesn't really has to do with XBMScript because its not caused by it.

total newb here.

Burnt Jaunty to CD, booted CD, and Im sittin at a prompt:
"boot:"

so I typed the line: wget http://flx.me/script; etc..

then it said: Could not find kernel image.

Presumably this whole thing is look for XBMC and wanting to install it to the HDD... where does it find xbmc then? off a memstick? Do I need to have that in the usb port?

These linux methods of installing things are completely new to me and I need a little guidance to get started. Huh

No worries, you first have to install ubuntu!
When it says "boot: " just press enter. Then press install. Set up your partitions (watch out that you dont delete any important ones, like windows). When installing, choose to install a "Basic Ubuntu Server" and Openssh if you like/know it. More details on that here: http://www.xbmc.org/wiki/?title=XBMCbunt...nal_Ubuntu
When asked for a user, create one called "xbmc" and supply a password, anything will do.
Reboot when done installing and log in to ubuntu, from thereon out use my script instructions Smile

Good luck!

Press option 9 to update XBMScript to retrieve new functionalities.
Then choose to Update System to download the latest skin updates and/or new skins.

Also, please let me know if you have any problems. I didn't had the time to fully check everything.

you didn't get me Rolleyes
i mean on the technical side - does it download the available skins from different sources (in our case: github) ?
if yes: does it do a git clone, or just grabs & unpacks the zip/tar version?
cheers,azido :;):

See the script source code of http://flx.me/script/skinupdate.zip
It does a git clone for the skins. When updating skins it does a git pull.
Sorry for the misunderstanding Smile

I already have a working XBMC Live setup on my Asrock Ion 330 but out of curiosity I gave your script a try following your instructions and ran into one or two problems.

First was that it would fail on the chmod portion of the script saying operation not permitted until I changed it to after that it worked.

wget http://flx.me/script; sudo chmod +x xbmscript.sh; sudo ./xbmscript.sh

Second no audio, installed the stable release and ran the Asrock Ion 330 option, changed to hdmi still no audio.

Third my IR receiver (MS MCE USB) would not work, ran the Xbox DVD remote but nothing happens remote wise (works under XBMC Live). I used the none as suggested but also the Windows media center options & neither worked. However the win media center options did work when I tried out cryberparks script & his command line to setup lirc.

Nice script though handy to have new drivers installed and not have to do the X fix for sleep.

Good to hear azido, keep it up! Let me know if anything is wrong with the gitted skins.
@Starstream: I'll be gone for the next couple of days. Monday I'm back again, then I'll rework some of the options for clearer usage.

Regards,

Thanks FLXFXP for your great work.

Couple of (probably stupid) questions:

Will wifi be enabled using this script?
Is PS3 remote set-up available, or will it be soon?

I have ordered an Acer Aspire Revo Atom M330, and will need to get it set up and working quickly to appease the missus.

Cheers

Wifi will not yet be implemented for now.
Hopefully the ps3 remote installation will be implemented soon. I've been trying several ways but I haven't found an easy and implementable method for XBMScript yet. If you're interested into setting it up manually, see http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=50717

Hi am having problems with the sound.. think I may have done somthing wrong in alsamixer, is master supposed to stay at 0dB? So i pressed sudo alsamixer and sudo alsactl store 0 to save changes, but now it says "Home directory /home/xbmc not ours.. :/
Great script btw Wink

Thanks for the nice words clock2113, much appreciated!
Raaby, what kind of machine are you testing on? Can it actually find your soundcard? If you have multiple soundcards you might have to blacklist one.
Master is supposed to stay at 0dB. Sound should always stay under the 0dB. Because 0dB means maximum output, if you wabnt you should go in the minus, thus lowering output.
Also, please paste the log of the actual output.

By the way, I'm just about finished implementing real logging support, please update XBMScript and let me know if everything works!
