If you read through this thread you'll learn that this script is only for the minimal CD.
You should stay away from the xbmc live CD since its just going to cause you more headache.
Use this tutorial http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=XBMCbuntu it might take longer but since your new, it will help you learn.
Also use the 32-bit version of ubuntu. its more stable and from what i have learned XBMC is more stable on 32-bit.
Hope this helps, if not, give up. Cause installing linux is the easiest OS to install.
