Just wondering if anyone has tried this out. The reviews make it sound very useful.

I've have a developer's account for weeks. None of my friends use it, so I can't really comment on how useful it is at this point. In theory it could replace a lot of services and roll them into one (mailing lists, forums, email, IM, chat). In practice.... does all of that crap need to be rolled into one? Meh.
The in-browser version google has built is slow and buggy, I don't see it taking off. Once there is a standalone application using the wave backend & users reach critical mass, I'll be able to make a better judgement.
tl;dr version: It's too early to make any conclusions, but it has potential.
