If the remote is being picked up as a keyboard then just remap the keyboard.xml to the keys that your remote is set to.
Say, for instance, you have a button mapped to <K> that you'd like to be the play button. Just map <K> to the play function in keyboard.xml and your remote should work.

thank you , i think thats going to be the best way forward, i need to google a way to find out what keyboard function each button is and then change it to suit xbmc not going to be easy but will have a google unless anyone know how?

look in XBMC's wiki
It has all the player functions and what they are mapped to in there.
