ASRock ION 330 + XBMC inquisition.

Howdy all,

I know a bit has been said about the ASRock & XBMC on the ol' interwebs. But most of the talk has been in regards to installing/configuring Ubuntu & XBMC on it. It has left me with a few questions, and I figured it best to start a new thread, instead of hijacking another.

Some of these questions may be derived from my lack of XBMC knowledge, and for that I apologize. (I did make some effort to read the forums & wiki first).

1) How well does fast forward/rewind handle?

2) Do subtitles choke the system?

3) Can it handle a BluRay rip?

4) Is Ubuntu really the way to go? (favored for VDPAU ? I don't know if it still holds true now that Win7 is out though)

Thanks much!

3) maybe it plays raw m2ts but not menus and this kind of stuff
4) VDPAU is only avalaible under linux, not windows (for now at least)

thanks a bunch for the quick reply! Big Grin

While this is still active, I have 1 more question...

Is there a way to have the full functionality of a DVD, such as menus/features? I don't know much about XBMC reading ISOs. Will it just read the main VOB? Do I have to use an app to virtually mount the ISO as as DVD?

XBMC has full support of DVD ans it also read ISO as a real DVD without doing anything particular Smile

I would use .ISOs for DVD because there seems to be a prolonged loading time with VIDEO_TS folders atm.
