I've been using XBMC for a long time now, but have always had stuttering problems on WINDOWS. My XBOX used to stutter from time to time, not consistently. My Apple TV would only stutter with Wi-Fi and large files. My Windows set up always stutters even on Gigabit LAN.

As of yesterday I installed the latest XBMC, and still have the issues. I have seen a bunch of threads about the smoothvideo being implemented into it, and having the extra settings, but I do not see them in my settings. Is this just a linux thing? Any help in eliminating my stuttering problem would be greatly appreciated.

I access all of my files from a SMB NAS (500GB SimpleShare NAS) and the files play fine in VLC over the Gigabit LAN.

I am running Vista x64.

I've got the same problem, except I don't use a NAS, instead of using SMB shares, I ran an FTP server on my file server and everything runs great now, no more stuttering in XBMC even on 1080p content, and everything I got is running on a Wireless LAN
