beta 1: add fixed ip during install?
#1
Decided to do a clean install from a cd. However I need a fixed ip adress. I have instructions that work, but they include leaving XBMC, starting vi and manually adding some lines.

It could be me, but I always have problems with vi and end up googling how to fix it (switching to insert mode, yesterday somehow it duplicated the gateway line 271 times etc).

I'd really like it if this could done during install, so that everything is really finished after installation. Is that possible?

Yes, when in the installer ask if you want auto config network with DHCP select NO.

If you do not get this question by default you need to use expert mode. (in live beta installer you get this by adding priority=low to the kernel options)

vi is a terrible tool. Use nano instead.
ASRock ION 330, Lucid Lynx, XBMC Dharma (beta 2)

no it's not, it's just different and you don't know how to use it.
