In the installation guide for XBMCbuntu it states the following

If using Ubuntu 9.04 or lower, create the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbmc.org.list with the following content:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/karmic-ppa/ubuntu/ karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/karmic-ppa/ubuntu/ karmic main

Is that correct or should it read jaunty and not karmic for 9.04??

It should read jaunty for 9.04.

I am in the process of rewriting it to karmic 9.10, but I took a bit of an early start, want to wait for XBMC 9.11 and a few tweaks.
