[LINUX] HTPC Build - Help for 1080P
#1
Hi, I have been running XBMC on linux for about a year now and have enjoyed the flexibility it offers. Now as 1080p has become more prevalent I have noticed my machine does not seem to have enough power to run it.

I was looking for some advice to what I would need to upgrade.

Here are my specs.

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+ Toledo 2.4GHz
3GB DDR 400
Abit AN8 32X Motherboard
Geforce 6600V+ 512MB DDR2

I don't have a huge amount of money at the moment, so I am looking for the cheapest possible way to get this running with 1080p. Will upgrading the graphics card be sufficient?

Thanks for you help.

Do I just need a card that supports VDPAU?

That would be your easiest solution.
