How to install Aeon for windows?
#1
Hello everyone. I downloaded and installed Babylon, works fine.
I downloaded Stark and unzipped to a new folder named "Aeon" and place it in the skins directory. When I select "Aeon" from the menu, it says the skin is not compatible and requires one that is 2.0 and up (wtf dose that mean?)

I have tried this with many other skins to no fix, what am I doing wrong?
(I have also re-installed xbmc)

You probably have the skin folder inside another folder

Should not be like below or similar

/skin/aeon/aeon/skin files

must be

/skin/aeon/skin files

this is what I have
C:\Program Files\XBMC\skin\Aeon

in the Aeon folder, there is a bunch of files that came out of the .zip, I noticed that the other skins that come with XBMC have a 720p folder etc... Aeon dose not have that (guessing that everything is 1080p). Are all these files suppose to be thrown in the folder?

Aeon does have a 720p folder if its missing then there's something wrong

Get it from the link below just click download that will get you Stark if you want Auriga select it from all branches then click download, it gives you a choice of zip or tar, tar seems more reliable so choose that

The only thing not included is fonts but you can find link to them in the stickys

just downloaded from the above site, still the same thing... just a bunch of files randomly thrown in a zip, there are no folders or organization of any kind.

http://github.com/djh/aeon/archives/auriga

you SHOULD be prompted to download a zip file...

Download it.

When it's completed, extract into your XBMC skin folder under the folder MYAEON....

Use the name 'MYAEON' to PROVE to yourself you are selecting the correct skin in XBMC.

Launch XBMC... and choose a skin. IF you see 'MyAeon', you've installed correctly... if you don't see it... come back to us, you've not installed it correctly.

can someone just upload a copy of the "AEON" folder they are using (and everything within). it can be zipped or not.

I set up a FTP account on my server for XBMC users
server: ftp.blakecharles.com
user: xbmc
pass: p@ssword123

if you don't have ftp software use this web biased app

I did say download the tar, I just downloaded the Auriga tar and all files were there ?

You should get four folders, 720p, language, media, sounds and a file skin.xml

The OP mentions he's using Babylon (presumably the latest stable release). Surely that's the problem he's having no? He needs a more up to date release.

Nothing to do with it he doesn't have all the skin files, even if he had all the files he would have even more problems with the latest builds because they have changed settings around and Aeon doesn't like it

I tried the download you listed, there are no separate folders in the zip or tar. I am having the same trouble with other skins as well. I have not done anything, all I do is unpack the archive... that's just how it comes out.

can someone plz upload or email me?

You should learn how to download from github using git otherwise your going to have to go through this every time, you can find out how in the stickys or use the script someone did as you can get Auriga with that

If you want Stark there is a link on the Aeon homepage

Guess I just don't understand why all these files are packed in a zip/tar file without being filed in the proper folder. I have downloaded from different places all to find the same thing.
