Autostart XBMC following Full Karmic Install
#1
I installed a x64 Karmic setup onto my Zotac MAG tonight and wanted to test the "Autostart XBMC" which is part of this guide (http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_insta...ep-by-step) however when i get to my login screen and look at whats inside the Session tab, XBMC is not listed there

Can't possibly proceed until we know how you installed.

ohh .. sorry

i just used the regular karmic x64 iso (the full ubuntu live cd) and installed to local hd

then i did what was listed on that guide (previous post)
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install xbmc

reboot a few times since install .. xbmc is running fine too (playing movie right now actually)

I think you need to install xbmc-common and xbmc-standalone

Quote:sudo apt-get install xbmc-common
sudo apt-get install xbmc-standalone

Just a guess though

cheers.

that little hint helped Smile

sudo apt-get install xbmc-standalone is what i needed

question though .. by installing xbmc-common it erased all my other xbmc stuff .. is this package not needed anymore ? when i looked inside package manager i noticed common is still at b1 while xbmc & xbmc-standalone are already at rc1

ps. waiting for final ppa's to be added to install that
