Forgive my noobness but I have not played with Linux much, I have had xbmc on my xbox for years now and I wanted to get another for my bedroom, Instead I thought I would use a old pc for the job.

Specs:

Athlon 64 3000+
GeForce4 mx4000
Asus K8n

I downloaded the newest version of the live disk (xbmc-9.11-live-repack)

Booted with it and selected Nvidia GPU, enter login: xbmc, Pass: xbmc
and it just goes to a command line.

What do I do from here

That GPU isn't supported by the packaged drivers. I'm fairly certain it doesn't support enough OpenGL to run XBMC anyway.

Thank you for the reply. could you recommend a AGP 8x video card that will work well, and cheep.
