Uninstalled my existing version of XBMC without removing my profile folder.
I installed the "26321-DX XBMC" from his above post. *Note* I have Windows7 so during the XBMC install I made sure to UNCHECK the directX web install and the 2008 C++ re-disro install options. Windows7 has both already "built in" so to speak. Under the normal main XBMC download for windows these are grayed out.
I then navigated to the Aeon Phil65 thread and downloaded the most recent mod and dumped it into my skin folder.
I fired up xbmc and........ FLAWLESS!!! This is the fastest I have ever seen Aeon run. I have over 1300 movies and it is super fast...and super STABLE. It is as fast and stable as confluance!!! (on my machine)
The main XBMC for Windows downloads do not have the option to not install Directx and C++ re-distro. I think the forced install may be cause of issues a lot of users are having. This was brought up in another thread, I think in the main Windows one, that bleeding edge users / gamers / or Win7 users have these packages installed already and XBMC installing again can break some stuff.
No sure what chewy codec and driver morsels are are in this 26321-DX build but it is smokin. Kudos to whom ever did the build.. I cannot believe how fast Aeon-Phil65 is. *NOTE* I use Nvidia video. not sure how DX builds run with ATI.
@Z][iggy I have never been able to run Showmix (BSOD) but it now runs and is pretty darn cool. I think I'll keep both.....
I hope this post can help some others who are having issues. Take my advise on this, use the 26321-DX from the earlier link post..

I'm running xbmx live so the windows version isn't really an option for me.
I guess I should back up and ask, will this DX windows build use nvidia ion vdpau acceleration?

I'll check tonight when I get home, but do those files exist in the xbmc install directory that I can just make the code change manually myself? I can't seem to find any definitive guide for installing from svn to a running xbmc-live install. And I'm not that thrilled with waiting for a few months before they make a new release available.
Or, seeing as how they're source files, what is the resulting file that gets built with that code that I can manually change? Sorry, not a dev so I have only peripheral ideas on how this stuff works.
If somebody knows how to complile an xbmc-live build from svn I'd really appreciate it!

Finally pulled together all of the information needed to compile and install (as usual it's not in one place) from svn. Now issue is trying to find out why when I compile from latest svn that I can't get vdpau support.
I know it has something to do with needing nvidia libraries, but libraries mentioned (nvidia-190-libvdpau and libvdpau-dev) don't exist in the noted ppas?

I haven't tested the build being discussed here yet, but I was just wondering if it was pre-camelot or post-camelot?
