Click on "Download zip" and then use the "install from zip" alternative in XBMC. Remove the previous version first.

I had indeed set a manual bandwidth. It works fine when turning off that option.

The addon is listed as broken in the repo, due to video encryption.

According to commentary from SVT, the encryption was never intended for VOD content. Can the addon be set to un-broken?

It's been re-enabled since a while back (October 22nd). You might need to refresh the repo in XBMC to view the changes.

On the latest Gotham nitghtlies (Win32) SVTPlay in HD doesn't seem to work any longer. Disabling AVC 1.77.30 streams makes it work, but only in SD of course. Went back to 20140123 and got it working again. Just thought i'd mention this if anyone else gets the same problem.

Rumor has it that XBMC 13 on Apple TV now supports HLS avc1.77.30, that is; high-defintion streams.

Note that the version you installed is based on the new code ( https://github.com/nilzen/xbmc-svtplay/pull/91 ) which uses the beta site. Hence, it might break at any given time...

If you are using the (new and unreleased) version of the plugin, this has already been fixed: https://github.com/nilzen/xbmc-svtplay/pull/91
The new version will be released when the new SVT Play site is released, until then it is regarded as experimental.

I downloaded the one in the link above from someone's Dropbox. The kid section is empty for me.

That's because you are running an old version of an experimental branch. I would recommend you to use the official version from the XBMC repository as it is working.

In that case you need to specify what is not working and file an issue report here: https://github.com/nilzen/xbmc-svtplay/issues

I am able to list program using "Category"->"Barn" as well as playing a program from there.
