So, I know that a lot of people have asked about DRC/"Night Mode", but that's not really what I'm looking for.

I don't really have an issue with too much volume difference between loud parts and quiet parts within a movie, which is what DRC/"Night Mode" would deal with.

Instead, I have lots of different videos, some of which are too quiet overall, and some of which are much louder. I'd like a feature that just adjusts the volume on movies. Maybe let it scan files ahead of time and save a volume adjustment value in the library somewhere.

Anything like this exist already/in development, or am I chasing a pipe dream?

I achieve that usig the DSPlayer build that allow you to use custom codecs/decoders. FFDShow or AC3Filter can do exactly what you want. Read the wiki, explore the threads, it can be done

I can't get 1080p correctly rendered with DSPlayer + FFDshow!

Any suggestion to get DRC with DVDPlayer, it will be great!
