Movie/TV library all of a sudden gone (logs!)
#1
So maybe I said that wrong...My libraries for my tv shows (stored locally on my mac mini) and my movies (stored on an attached hard drive to said mini) are still in place, so no missing data, but my libraries are gone when i go to watch media from either...I can view them if i go their local directory, but they just disappeared...i tried to re-add them as new locations but hat just did not work..here are an old log and a new log from a restart:

NEW log from a fresh kodi restart:

OLD log from a few moments before the one listed above:

I see in the log that the "myvideos99.db" seems to be an issue for me, and this was also a problem for me in a previous thread i posted a few weeks ago...if its the same issue, is there a reason why this has happened a second time for me? is it a skin issue? a drive issue? do i need to revert to a previous version of kodi possibly?

I also just remembered another issue I'm having...sometimes when I start kodi, there is just my home screen background, no icons or anything...when i go to activity monitor, its using a lot of resources and I can't quit it using force quit, so i have to go back to the activity monitor and quit it from there...any idea for the no icon, restart it, and then it seems to work fine from then on?

So after 50 views and no replies, I decided to remove my TV29 and myvideos99 db files. As expected, when i restarted and added sources, everything was working as normal again. So, this is the same problem I has about a month ago. Now that the problem is solved, can anyone tell me why I keep having problems with .db files and empty homescreens with no icons when i start kodi occasionally?

It's hard to say. Kodi's video DB seems touchy, and easy to become corrupt. I'm not a dev, so I don't know why that is, what exactly causes it, or how to prevent it. The only thing I know of is to not suddenly power off the machine. I would run the backup add-on at least once a month. I can't remember the last time this happened to me, but I still make monthly DB backups just to be safe.

whats the backup add-on called, and how do i use it if this happens again and i have to delete the .db files? Im thinking its just a 'directory' backup of my movies and shows for art, ratings, etc so it doesn't have to rescrape again to build the library?
