Match file with tv episode -> rename
#1
Hi!
I'm in search of a epnamer program that has the possibility to let you choose which file is which episode. I want this since i have a lot of files with other numbers than thetvdb. And some of my files do not have a episode number at all, just a episode name.

Help me in this jungle of renaming programs. Which program has this feature.

There's a bunch of options going into UMM's tv episode handlers, if there's some kind of logic to your files then you've got options.

What numbers do you have in the file names? You mention they are not the tvdb's numbers.

For those that just have an episode name, are they in a season folder? or just sitting in a show folder? Do the episode names match at all to thetvdb names ?

Well most of my files (Mythbusters), have different number then thetvdb. The result is almost all of the episodes are displayed wrong in xbmc. There is only a few with no number at all. I can manage them by hand.

I have used this program just last nigh for movies, it adds year and everything to the Movie file. It also works for shows to name it correct. I haven't tested it with shows yet but it seems like a real nice program.

MediaRenamer is intended for easy renaming of movie and series files recorded from TV.

The current stable version is 2.0.1

Features:

* Scan movie/tv show folders
* Detect movienames and tv show names automatically
* Automatically detect correct season folders for tv shows
* Create new season folders based on users naming scheme
* Move movies to pre-selected movie folder
* Download information for movies/shows from internet sources
o Supports imdb.com, themoviedb.org, thetvdb.com and episodeworld.com
* DropTarget for fast rename/move/copy of files

These renamers do only work based of the episode number. If it is wrong all files will end up will wrong episode name aswell as number. That is why I want a program that manually lets me match files with episodes.

I think you can sort the files manually to apply to different episodes, but am not sure.

I'm sorry to say that I think you think wrong.

My mistake, the program I use is Series Renamer. It is quite old but works just fine.

You cannot sort the files, but you can reassing the ShowName, Season and Episode to each individual file, so that should do to rename your messed up files.

Hope it helps.

You could also try FileBot:
http://filebot.sourceforge.net

It'll use fuzzy matching on the episode title, but only if it can't find a match via Season/Episode numbers. Regardless you can always rematch episodes/files manually before renaming.
