Win7, Intel E2180, ATI 5450, which XBMC?
#1
I used to have a ASrock ION which ran ubuntu and xbmc with vdpau.

I'm going to set up a new htpc for my HT room, and thought I should install Win7 and XBMC, but i've heard that I have to run some unstable version of XBMC to get "vdpau" in win7 working correctly, is that true? Or can I just download latest xbmc 9.11 and everything will go smooth?

EDIT1:

Having trouble with picture on movies in XBMC

Now I reinstalled everything, and windows7 is up to date.
Windows7 x64
xbmc-r28256-trunk.exe
latest directx installed
10-3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe from ATI.com used.

tried running a clip, 60fps, this is the log:

I still get these annoying blinking.

Any suggestions?

Any Ideas?

The nightly builds from mirrors.xbmc.org work fine for me. The next release version is due in May and that will support hardware acceleration.

I tried install the latest nightly, and i installed the latest drivers from Sapphire. But when I try run a .mkv I only get sound. The .mkv works both with sound and image on my ASrock.

There is no x64 build of XBMC, but you should have no issues with the x86 version.

DXVA2 support is still very much a work in progress. So be aware it might not work as you expect.

Finally, you must select DXVA from the options screen for video. If i remember correctly, "Auto Detect" does not work right now.
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
Gigabyte MA78GM-U2SH Mainboard
ATI HD3200 Onboard
AMD 7750BE Dual-Core 4.00GB RAM
ATI HD3200 HDMI Sound
HTPC HMDI -> ONKYO TX-SR605 -> Panasonic TH-46PZ85U Plasma

Ahh, there the picture came. HAd to set it to DXVA and not Auto Detect.

One problem, the picture(details) is perfect my monitor are blinking(i don't know how to explain it). I'm running in debugging mode, it says FPS 59.9, cpu core(s) average: ~10%.

That's called a seizure waiting to happen Smile

Could be a refresh rate issue? SETTINGS>VIDEO>PLAYBACK> try a couple settings in there.

Lots of issues using Win XBMC (w/DXVA2) with the ATI 5xxx GPU's:

I'd try the DSplayer builds with your 5450:

It can use FFDshow for audio which (if you do some google searching) can be configured to bitstream the HD audio formats that card supports.

What that video shows does not look like at ATI issues.

I've tried change all of them without any luck. Any other suggestion?

Does it do that when you select "standard" as your render method?

I only get sound when it is on Standard and Auto Detect.

What is the fps rate on the file you are seeing 59.9 with. Is it really a 60fps file?

Yep, it's a football match. I've also tried 24fps, same with them. The video I posted is from a 24fps.
