AAC audio over HTSP(TvHeadend) not working?

external ffmpeg won't help. externa libfaad may if you are lucky, but i doubt it.

dteirney seems to have done some work on HE-AAC / mpeg4:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=2...post250784

I guess I'm just a bit bewildered; XBMC supports basically anything I can throw at it, including my shoes. It seems strange that HE-AAC is unsupported.

PaPlayer supports HE-AAC according to the wiki:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PAPlayer

http://xbmc-media-center.software.inform...at_support lists XBMC as supporting AACplus.

Is it just HE-AAC over HTSP which is unsupported, or is this a general problem?

Sorry for nagging; but I love XBMC, have used it for years as my only entertainment system (xbmc + mythbackend + dish). Now that I've got state-of-the-art IPTV over fiber I want it all to be contained in that one little box under my tv. :-) 2 boxes are one too many!

Now that FFMPEG supports HE-AAC v1 decoding, is the new FFMpeg planned to be pulled into XBMC prior to 10.05 to enable TVHeadEnd HE-AAC?

Quote:
  • decoders and encoders
    • VP8 (via Google's libvpx library)

  • decoders
    • AMR-NB
    • Atrac1
    • HE-AAC v1
    • Bink
    • Bluray (PGS) subtitle
    • MPEG-4 Audio Lossless Coding (ALS)
    • WMA Pro

Maybe it's just me - but I kinda feel like things are going the right way?

This is the one thing I need (want) to make my tvsetup complete.
Well - this, a new fanless mediacenter for the living room and a slate. Maybe the Adam when it's released. 'cause I'm worth it. ;-)

And I've just started my summervacation too. :-D

Im running xbmc 26018 and have hit the AAC issue.

I resently added a DVBT to my setup and planned on using TVHeadend to record FTA HD tv in New Zealand, I found out pretty quickly that all but one of the channels has audio encoded via AAC, only one channel TV3 had a secondary AC3 stream.

What I found was with version 2.11 of TVheadend TV3 was the only channel I could record and playback with xbmc. Any AAC encoded channel would not record and report in the log "waiting for audio lock" and create a zero length file in the folder.e

Andreas over at the lonely coder pointed me to beta hts-tvheadend_2.11.99.4965 this now allows the AAC encoded channels to record, however when I try to play these back via xbmc it crashes out to the shell.

Basically my question is, if i go to the lates svn will it support playback of these AAC encoded recordings. I can provide a sample if anyone wants to test.

Question
Noticed that 32406 had an update of the ffmpeg dll's, so I downloaded the latest nightlie to see if this AAC - issue had been resolved. But alas, all is still the same.

Now running TvHeadend 2.11.99.4965, XBMC 32416.
As ususal video but no AAC audio.
Switching to AC3 audio works, but only 2 of my channel has AC3 - the rest are all AAC.

Hi.
Just wondering if there are any plans to switch to libfaad2 anytime soon?
Or to tell DVDPlayer to use an external codec for AAC audio?

Is there any way at all to make xbmc play my htsp:// streams with AAC-HE audio?

AAC audio from htsp still not working in xbmc.
But I just made a recording of a channel w/aac in tvheadend; played that recording in xbmc. And guess what: the recording played perfectly w/aac audio.

Why is it that I can't play a live-channel w/aac audio over htsp, but a recording from the same channel w/aac play?

According to http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=77271:

"XBMC will transcode any format (AAC, DTS, MP3,...) to AC3 on the fly in the next stable version. It's already available in the development SVN releases if you feel adventurous."

This is really getting to me - will some of the developers please ease my pain by telling me (in simple words) what's going on??

I'm running XBMC PRE-10.5 r32416 under windows 7.

Heeeelp!! :'-(

I'd really like to hear some of the devs opinion on this.

Does XBMC (DVDPlayer) handle video/audio from a file in some other way than video/audio from a stream?
Reply
#28
they are handled differently yes + there is most likely a difference in how the aac is stored in the recorded stream from tvheadend.

Great news, I'll give a go tonight and see if it solves anything. Having same problems as OP, just with different setup (linux).

Will report back whether it works or not.
