ATV SSHC builds and script error 126

I see the path, it's just that there's never a console.log file there. I didn't know if one was generated by default or if you had to "turn it on" somehow...

/Library/Logs/Console/501/console.log ?

sudo dmesg can also show some logging.

Okay. I'm not really sure how to proceed from here, but I'll try running everything manually again, but I'll add sudo dmesg at the beginning to see if that helps. I'll reboot the AppleTV, delete the existing logs and then try:

Code:
sudo dmesg
wget "http://www.sshcs.com/xbmc/xbmc-9.04_update_sshcs.sh"
wget "http://www.sshcs.com/xbmc/?mode=CW&P=OSX&R=30307"
chmod +x xbmc-9.04_update_sshcs.sh
./xbmc-9.04_update_sshcs.sh XBMC_OSX_30307.tgz

Here goes:

Code:

Well, as you can see, the update completes successfully when it's done manually. Unfortunately, trying to update from Launcher still returns Error 126 after download. The only clue I have as to what is different when I try to update via Launcher is that the temp download file is being written as XBMCLauncherDownloads (with no file extension) in the /Users/frontrow/Library/Caches directory, instead of being written as XBMC_OSX_30307.tgz in the /Users/frontrow/ directory. I can see this temp file being written if I open WinSCP while the download is in process from Launcher.

I want to help, but I'm not sure what to try next. Is there a command that I could type into PuTTY that would show me what's happening when I try to update via Launcher?

toss a -p on those mkdir command and mkdir will not complain about pre-existing dirs. and wtf in the 1st place ?

Quote:mkdir /Users/frontrow/
mkdir /Users/frontrow/Library/
mkdir /Users/frontrow/Library/Caches/
mkdir /Users/frontrow/Library/Caches/XBMCLauncherDownloads

if "/Users/frontrow/" or "/Users/frontrow/Library" does not exist, you are screwed in the first place. Get rid of those.

Hey i just attempted to do some research into this and i noticed that when launcher is downloading the tar file it is saving the tar file to the location that should be a folder:

I make the folder and you can see it below:

-bash-2.05b$ pwd
/Users/frontrow/Library/Caches
drwx------ 8 frontrow frontrow 272 May 18 06:12 ..
drwx------ 11 frontrow frontrow 374 May 20 00:01 Finder
drwxr-xr-x 2 frontrow frontrow 68 May 20 00:11 XBMCLauncherDownloads
drwx------ 4 frontrow frontrow 136 May 20 00:11 .

In Launcher i start the download and while its actively downloading you can see it replaced the directory with the actual file:

-bash-2.05b$ ls -ltra
total 115488
-rwxrwxrwx 1 frontrow frontrow 59129157 May 19 02:53 XBMCLauncherDownloads
drwx------ 8 frontrow frontrow 272 May 20 00:12 ..
drwx------ 6 frontrow frontrow 204 May 20 00:12 Finder
drwxr-xr-x 4 frontrow frontrow 136 May 20 00:12 .

Notice XBMCLauncherDownloads is no longer a directory but a file. So the script would error out because of this.

After the error 126 error the Caches directory and everything under it are removed.

Testing with the Official XBMC Nightly Repos it does download the file into the DIR? Are we sure the ASP page used by sshcs is correctly formatted for the launcher? The Official one appears to by xml based and this one just text?

Airey001, thanks for taking the time to explain (and show evidence!) of the problem, in a much better manner than I did!

I thought I'd try updating through Launcher again today, but it's still not working. Is there any progress being made on this front? I feel like we're so close!

I'm not sure I felt the same. There was still no log, even though this thread has 4 pages now...

Good news! The final obstacle turned out to be Launcher itself! With Launcher 3.2.5, the SSHC nightlies now download and install fine!

@MaestroDD, I hadn't supplied logs because, as I had mentioned earlier, none were being generated, which I think was part of the problem of figuring out what was going wrong. Anyway, I didn't want you to think I didn't know how to follow directions...

Smile

Great work everybody! Thanks for the extra effort to get this working again!
