Cannot install XBMC on Ubuntu Linux
#1
Hello all.

I am familiar with XBMC for Windows and am now trying to install it on Ubuntu 10.04

I am trying to do the bit called "Adding the XBMC SVN Repo Installer".

I downloaded the file SVN_Repo_Installer.zip and extracted it, but I cannot find the directory ~/.xbmc/plugins/programs directory where I am instructed to put it.

I found lots of folders with XBMC in their name by searcing in the file system, but no /xbmc/plugins directory.

Question. Where is the folder ~/.xbmc/plugins/programs located ?

why didnt u just use the teamxbmc ppa and do an apt-get install from there?

if u are on ubuntu.

open a terminal [ under menu/applications/accessories ]

type in the terminal
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc/ppa && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc

that'd be the most easiest way to get xbmc installed on your ubuntu machine... and to remove it will be as simple as
Code:
sudo apt-get purge xbmc

or u can use synaptics to manage the installed packages.

I tried to use this method to install xbmc, it hit several urls, but then gave 2 404 errors at the end. any ideas?

Code:
