Moved media, want to edit paths now
#1
Since I am watching my newly built 3TB RAID filling up with my media, wich was spread across various locations (but on the same nfs-fileserverbefore) I am looking for a safe way to edit thes filepath to the new ones.

Simply rescraping would be a nightmare, since it took me lots of nightly hours renaming e.g. french titles to german ones, choosing fanart and posters for many files and such. I assume, rescraping would not figure it is seing the same file (wich I adjusted), just in a different location, and adjust accordingly right?

What is the samrtest thing to do?

export your library to single files THEN move the files. finally rescan from the new locations.

..but wouldn't rescanning kill all the changes I made by hand?

no, the export exports to locally stored .nfo-files/pictures. this information would be reused when you do the scan.

you may also simply move your movies on the fly and just rescan/cleanup your database, it works well too and avoids the export time (which could turn to a nightmare with 5000+ items) Wink

So even though he just said how much time changing the names and how much time it took for him to scrape everything in you are still recommending he do it again because it avoids the exports time. LOL!!!!

The export time is much shorter and easier than rescraping and renaming movies.

I guess you're right it's pretty non sense, since I am using EmberMM I tend to forget that others don't.
