No 5.1 Audio after autologin session in linux
#1
I installed and folowed instructions at the http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=HOW-TO_insta...ep-by-step

I did make everything work perfect as i have panasonic plasma that is HD capable connected to my nvidia with hdmi, and analog audio 5.1 channel to my reciver from CMI 8737 5.1 sound card ...

i had to manualy position screen in nvidia software to have it display complete screen, and manualy change from 2 channel audio to 5.1 channel audio... and everyhing worked perfectly...

so now i folowed guide (and forgot to make one more account for normal login) and made auto login session

"From the desktop click System -> Administration -> Login Screen
From the "Security" tab choose "Enable Automatic Login" and select your username.
Click "OK" to exit.
Logout of your system.
From the Login screen choose "Select Session"
Choose "XBMC" and click "Change Session""

now there are two problems

resolution is not as i made it in normaln login, and audio is only stereo, if there is more then two channels in file, it wont work and it says "fail audio initialization" or something like that

i did change in system to adjust screen of xbmc, but, when i start movie, part of it disapers of screen (this was not the case in normal login)

when i checked for audio everything seams fine, but there is no option for CMI 8738 5.1 card in xbmc anymore... so i open console with ctrl+alt+F1 and test 5.1 channels with speaker-test -c 6 and it works on all channels...

then i get back in xbmc and now i have in audio option for CMI 8738 5.1 sound card ...

so now i have to make speaker-test -c 6 , and choose again sound device after every reboot to have audio working...

is there workaround ?! to have it load all settings i had before automatic login session...

linux distro is linux mint that is based od ubuntu 10.04 ...

Please help!

p.s. in etc/pulse/deamon.conf i have deafult channels to 6 uncommented ....

sorry for my bad english

Asus mbo
Intel dual core on 2.5 GHz (1080p works like a charm) - i think its e3300 something like that
CMI 8738 5.1 sound card
Nvidia 8400 gs 512MB

I'm having the same problem (at least w.r.t. the audio). I'm using SVN build 31713 from a couple of days ago.

I'm using confluence. Here are (I think) the pertinent log sections:

Code:

19:33:50 T:140260385396800 M:3163488256   DEBUG: RemoveActiveDevice - Removing device 1

I hope that helps.

I'm only using simple Analog sound from the line out on the card and it's doing the same thing. I have an NVidia ION chipset which seems to initialize fine if I start XBMC from within the GNOME desktop - it's only when it autostarts that I have the problem.

Not that anyone probably cares, but, just in case, this has been fixed in (at least) 31822.
