i installed xbmc on Asrock ion-330-ht with windows 7

when i try to play mkv files the are very leap.

but when i play the same mkx files with microsoft media center everything is fine.


help please....

Play the files in a player that has support for hardware acceleration such as Media Player Classic Home Cinema or download a nightly XBMC which has DXVA2 support.

And in the future, try to be a bit more specific about your problems...

I going through this too. I'm still setting things up and learning. This forum is full of posts that will tell you what you need to know. Use the forum's Search tool to find them.

I'm using Dsplayer, but there are others.

The Dsplayer download includes a reinstall of xbmc and is brilliant. You'll probably also need to do some changes in xbmc's settings. Play around with the configuration to improve things.

Asrock Ion 330 cant play 720p/1080p using just the CPU it needs to be offloaded to the GPU which is what media player is doing

You need to use either XBMC linux or Live or the latest nightly build of windows, you can also use the DSPlayer branch of XBMC which uses directshow but if you don't have any special requirements then I would use a nightly build

I've been having a similar issue. But mine is alittle strange I think.
My system is Zotac based based so it has an ION GPU and Dual Core 1.6Ghz Atom. It's got 3Gb of ram on there too and I'm running Win7 Premium 32-bit.

I've tried both xbmc-r31827 & xbmc-r31901 nightly builds. when Hardware Acceleration is enabled, SD video plays with no issue. But All HD video (MKV, WMV) play on only HALF of the screen. The movie is pushed to fit on the left side of my display. When I disable DXVA2 then it's the whole screen again but ofcourse then it's really choppy. I've been able to find a work around for the time being: If I run XBMC Windowed, it will show the video in full screen so I then have to stretch the windowed image across my whole screen.

I've made sure I have the latest drivers from NVIDIA. Ive tried different nightly build but they all do that... Any ideas for me?

Try Settings, System, Video output and enable "Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen".

If that doesn't help, there's been some success with resetting all nVidia driver options. I'd love to know which one breaks though because we could properly work around...
And there's also the lastest DirectX runtime to consider.
