@ZyntaX - cool

@rdsu - yep

@HeresJohnny and others, new tag added to advancedsettings.xml <allowtranscode44100>0</allowTranscode44100> allows 44.1khz when transcoding - prevents forcing resampling 44.1khz->48khz. Put it between the <audio> tags.

Could AE detect if I plug my mini-optical into my MacBook and then automatically switch to passthrough and switch back to analog output when I remove it?
(Add the moment I need set this up manually and when I forgot that last time I used DTS in XBMC I almost become deaf because of the digital noise coming through my analog head phones :p)

@tripkip - there is no way to detect an optical connection, unlike HDMI.

Hmm yea, I see, come to think about it, that's quite logical. Thanks for AE!

@DDDamian and others: how's it going with the DRC? I'm not exactly in a hurry, although I do have a question. If I'm watching a movie with bitstreamable audio and want to enable DRC, what happens? Will the DRC controls simply be disabled or is it possible to switch to LPCM? The latter would be absolutely awesome.

Note that I haven't used DRC directly in XBMC before so perhaps it already works as described.

@negge - DRC's coming, perhaps not this merge window but definitely the next. Right now we're just trying to squash known bugs before adding features. We'll try enable the logic described above. The biggest issue would be DTS-MA - we would have to restart things anyways to get the core DTS track to then decode to LPCM.

Don't forget - we just made the official announcement 24hrs ago Tongue

First I want to thank you for your hard work with AE. It is by far the most exiting thing to happen to XBMC in a long time. It's not like there haven't been alot to be exited about all the time. AE just tops the list.

Support for HD audio and higher quality playback is so great. The most exiting part for me though is finally being able to play my multichannel FLAC music.

I have one question I was hoping to get answered. Will there be support for DTS music files in the future?
It doesn't appear to work at the moment. But I haven't looked that much into it yet.

Dear DDDamian,

RE: http://xbmc.org/author/dddamian/ "Features of AE include: - support for DTS-MA / Dolby TrueHD Bluray formats (OSX pending)"

Could you please estimate when the a.m. pending support for OSX gets developed and available for download?

Thanks and every success!

Hey DriftIce - welcome to the forums. I can't give a date for that - best I can tell you is we have three very capable OSx devs on the team, and the one who wrote the majority of the CoreAudio portions of AudioEngine has been busy with the Raspberry PI port - with luck he'll be able to get back to the DTS-MA/TrueHD code for OSx shortly!

Thanks for the info DDDamian,
Elaboration of OSX support for DTS-MA/TrueHD in XBMC seems to be very difficult, next to impossible: to the best of my knowledge, there's nothing *native* available for that so far. Hence, your team is going to write something revolutionary (IMO, no exaggeration). I wish you luck!

DriftIce - actually its impossible and we know that. Don't expect us changing that Wink

Memphiz,

Sounds fatal:o(. Most probably you're right - purely native support is impossible. However, haven't you thought about embedding of possible workaround/s? For instance, "the required 192kHz/8 channels mode" becomes perfectly functional for excellent 24bit multichannel playback on my MacBook Pro* thru HDMI/MiniDisplay port via Crossover > Foobar'2000 > WASAPI plugin.
