[RELEASE] The Daily Show (Video) Addon
Does anyone got this plug-in working on Apple TV2? I am on 4.3.1 but never had success with previous version ( 4.2.1 ) as well.

Right now, it's not working for anyone. TDS and TCR changed their web-sites and the plugins don't work anymore.

I welcome comments and suggestions for the Kodi (XBMC) Set-up Guide that I wrote.

Is someone working on this? I think I have an alternative to the rtmp streams. Just request the HLS playlist by adding the Xbox identifier to the episode request: "http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/feeds/mediagen/?uri=mgid:arc:episode:colbertnation.com:6ae7be46-219c-4b2e-8b5b-2335228e1f49&device=xbox". Get the master.m3u8. Choose the quality and request the real m3u8. You have to pass the "hdena2" cookie to XBMC. XBMC should be able to decrypt and play the segments.

I don't have time right now to implement the cookie part. This won't work on Apple/Android devices as they don't support the decryption process.

You shouldn't need to choose the quality. Xbmc will do it based on the bandwidth limitation setting. You'd also screw up any Set-Cookie values returned to the top-level m3u8 (hdnea).

All that aside, hls would be awesome. I've tested the hls streams with ffmpeg (tls is required) and they work fine.

Is the HLS+AES playback really working in XBMC? I wasn't able to do this with XBMC on my x86 Linux HTPC - are some cookies required?

FFmpeg yes. xbmc no... Not sure why.

Xbmc doesn't pass the cookie correctly to the ts streams, take a look at the ustvod source we just got it working there.

It should be passing the cookies. Curl stores them and then they should be passed on to ffmpeg (see CDVDDemuxFFmpeg::GetFFMpegOptionsFromURL).

Anyway, I think there is a bug...

Any news on a fix? Happy to help with testing.

Still nothing? I'm willing to pay a bounty.

How much will it take to get The Daily Show and The Colbert Report working??

Why not use USTV VOD?

I geo geo blocked with the USTV VOD addon, that wasn't the case with this addon.

Could be though that they made changes to the website and included geo block with them.

yes, Comedy Central's website is now geoblocked. I'm not sure if it is everything outside of the US or just locations where Comedy Central have a presence.
I suspect that is probably what the hold-up is with an update to this add-on.

Any news on being able to watch The Daily Show through XBMC, especially outside the US?
Thanks

I suspect that most everyone has just switched over to using US TV VOD...

I don't know whether they geo block it, but you can probably overcome that using a VPN or SmartDNS service, as discussed on the page I linked to (above).
