Why is there no audio with certain AVI files? ("avcodec_decode_video" errors)
#1
I'm running XBMC PRE-10.5 (r32246) on Ubuntu 10.04 x64 and everything works fantastic but certain AVI files aren't playing audio. The video plays fine but there is no audio.

The OSD information says the audio codec is "pcm_s16le", 44100 Hz, 1 channels, s16, 705 kb/s).

My debug log file contains tons of these messages:
Quote:WARNING: Decode - avcodec_decode_video didn't consume the full packet. size: 60936, consumed: 181

The entire debug log file is posted here: http://pastebin.com/vGDaKBAQ

Here's a link to the file (~100 MB): http://rapidshare.com/files/412622787/Fl...08_136.avi

This video (and all of the others that won't play audio) were taken on a Canon P&S camera...

Can anybody help me out?

If you are using today's build I think there were some sound issues with it. Using the last good SVN my sound was fine, since upgrading to today's 8/12 build having trouble getting any sound at all out of videos. I did get an AVI to work but no 5.1 and up streams yet, in fact they are crashing the whole thing on my xbmc-live install. But that's the trials and tribulations of using SVN. Smile
