Release [depricated] old YouTube Plugin - XBMC 13.0 Frodo/Gotham only
Hello, for a long time now I've had problems running the youtube addon.
Even after a reinstall and moving to the latest xbmc, the problem remains.
I keep getting the same errors when trying to play a file. Listing youtube video's works, playing does not.
Here is part of the debug output: http://pastebin.com/RfADUtVX
The addon is on version 4.4.4.

(2013-03-25, 12:37)KingsCross Wrote: I've started to get an issue with downloads where it says 'preparing download' constantly and gets stuck and won't go away even when I quit out the youtube app. It forces a restart of xbmc. The download feature is really useful so any chance it could be fixed?

Apparently you can fix the problem if you clear the cache by deleting -
~/.xbmc/userdata/Databases/commoncache.db.

The only problem is I can't find the dir path or 'commoncache.db' in openelec. Does anyone else know how to clear the youtube app cache in openelec?

Is it possible to include a 'clear cache' option in the youtube app settings in future updates?
Ya, there is definitely something fishy going on with this add-on. I'm running xbmc ver. 12.1 on my pc and YouTube won't even start.

Here's my log - https://www.dropbox.com/s/aex2aul1nfo8ckf/xbmc.log

Hi,
I have problem with YouTube plugin with private playlist. Standalone video from playlist is working fine, but "Reverse Playlist, Play All, Shuffle.." doesn't work. When I chagne playlist status to public everything is ok.

Your installation is probably "bad", if you read your own log you see that the simpledownloader module is missing among other issues.
Youtube works fine for me both on openelec and xbmcbuntu.

Google? Have you looked in /storage/.xbmc/userdata? (I haven't yet so feel free to report back)

Not play video youtube.

thanks
This is my first post. Firstly thankyou for the add on. Me and my family use it everyday and I can't express how much joy we get out of using it. Now I have a question if someone will kindly help me with. When I download a video from youtube add on. I try to add the source to my music Library. But when I try, the directory is empty. But the directory shows when I go through System->File manager->Storage->Music
I'm not sure how to proceed.

OK, I'll post there next time, sorry. I didn't read my own log because I don't understand what most of it means. You were right though (not that I ever doubted you), I uninstalled then reinstalled Youtube and it works perfectly now. Not sure what happened

Anyone else having issues with the sound volume in this plugin?
Mine is super quiet now, but everything else in XBMC is normal volume Sad
Hmmm. Hope it's not a red herring, but I seem to be experiencing about 90% chance of complete lockup when attempting to play trailers of movies in my library.

I have disabled other plugins, and tried alternate skins without Sucess. It's either youtube plugin 4.4.4 or XBMC 12.1 under openelec 3.0.

Never had an issue, out of options bar entire XBMC reinstall.

Anybody else?
hi all, just wondering if only a few users have problems with live youtube videos, or it's more wide spread
normal videos work fine but live stations do not work reporting codec error
uninstalled and re installed few times and cleared cache
win 8 12.1 4.4.4

Btw, is it me or all live station streams that fail contain a '-' in the video id?
