Release [depricated] old YouTube Plugin - XBMC 13.0 Frodo/Gotham only
Next step: I modified the code of YoutubePlayer.py so that the "=" is no longer incorrectly added to the playback URL. Still, playback of the parsed URL is refused.

I pasted a full debug log of the playback attempt here: http://pastebin.com/wGSVfg4c

When I feed the parsed URL into a browser, it says that the "server refused to process the request".
Kind regards, Frank

Kodi: LibreELEC Beta
HTPC: Raspberry Pi 2 (Model B)
TV: Toshiba 47"
NAS: Debian Jessie x64 (Gigabyte GA-D510UD), HDD 3x1.5 TB + 1x2 TB (SnapRAID, MergerFS)
I managed to fix issues described above. I've attached fixed versions of video youtube (3.1.0) and simple downloader (0.9.3) plugins. What issues are fixed:
  • latest change in YouTube that totally broke viewing videos
  • unsupported (=http) protocol problem
  • exceptions in transformAnnotationToSSA (list out of index) for some videos
  • subtitles are not displayed
  • videos with non-ascii names are not downloaded or downloaded with all non-ascii characters stripped (I tested fix on Windows platform, so not sure about correct downloading on *nix platforms)

Awesome! I'm running a winxp xbmc eden 11. I downloaded and installed the above plugins for Youtube and it seems to be working again.
Thanks
I just upgraded to Eden in order to fix the "Couldn't extract video url" issue. No luck yet. But anteo's post sounds hopeful, gonna give it a try immediately!

Edit: ran into some legacy issues that where caused by the upgrade from XBMCLive! to Eden. But after solving those (thanks again, anteo, for your PM) everything works smooth as a whistle. If only I could give this chap some rep! He's earned it Smile
thanks anteo they work great!
Very nice anteo! I'll test the Youtube plugin right away and report if the fix works for me.

EDIT: Playback works again, nice job!
Kind regards, Frank

Nice work Anteo, this seems to work for me on a Linux machine. I haven't exactly tested it exhaustively but it appears I can download and play YouTube videos again.

FYI: went to the XBMC plugins directory ~/.xbmc/addons/ and unzipped the two provided zipfiles at that location, after moving the existing Youtube and Downloader directories aside (renaming).

XBMC Eden on Linux Mint 12.
Can someone please post step by step instructions on how i can apply this fix to youtube plugin on an pple tv via xbmc?
Thanks anteo , YT work fine but right click and then play all on YT playlist result script error..

Anyway someone can submit the fixes so the add-on can auto update? thanks!
Anteo fix works in OpenELEC 2.0 Beta 7 (1.95.7) for playing individual videos. As seizmos commented, play all results in a script error.
