Which version to run with Ubuntu (xfce)?
#1
I have a system running Mythbuntu (xfce) because I plan to use MythTV in the future. I have tried XBMC 9 stable and darma SVN from the PPA. Both seem to have showstopper problems that prevent me from using XBMC as my normal media environment.

XBMC 9 doesn't always mount/unmount/browse disks correctly, even when specifying a directory as a source. After one or two disks have been inserted, a reboot is required to browse any further optical media. In addition, encrypted DVDs take a long time to start. I assume this is because the entire disk is decrypted upon playback instead of decrypting as we go.

darma mounts/unmounts disks beautifully. However, it does not play their contents well. Many files are just unable to be read (resulting in an error on selection). No thumbnails are created for these. Other files may start playing, but they normally die part way through. Video/audio sync is often off. XBMC 9 did not have problems playing my media.

Which version/build should I be running on Ubuntu for a functional XBMC? Are there any workarounds?
