thanks to the recently added ability to open dialog windows with xbmc.activatewindow() (thanks jmarshall) i was able to create a useful (for skinners at least) test screen to launch all of the popup dialog boxes.
it came out pretty well so i figured i would share it as it might help other skinners deal with those pesky dialog boxes. :p

(right click/save as)
to open the page you can either hyperlink to 55 with a button on another page, or you can change one of the ids in keymap.xml to <id>xbmc.activatewindow(55)</id> to open it with a button press.
