As of today, there are a handful of Windows Phone 7 XBMC apps on the Market. When I first started writing XBMC Remote for Windows Phone 7 (
market listing,
xbmc thread), there was only one other app on the market and I thought their price was a bit over the top for a remote control so I decided to write my own. (mine is the one by BoshDirect)
I've implemented a number of cool features that were really helpful to me and my main focus has been on making the app fast and easy to use (wife acceptance factor).
I've also made sure my app works with the latest Eden versions of XBMC and it maintains backwards compatibility with Dharma. Most of the other apps either crash when you use them with Eden, don't pull in any data, or only work partially.
I was surprised to see that most of the other guys are providing a trial, but their trials are crippled by limitations like only showing the first 10-20 items in your library. While this does give you an idea of the functionality of the app, it doesn't actually show you how it performs (speed, lag, etc). As such, I decided to make the trial version of my app fully functional for a period of time. You can get a real and honest idea of how the app will work with your content - no ads, no limits - just a nag screen at the start of the app.
Check out my
XBMC WP7 app and let me know what you think. I hope you like it, but if not - shoot me an email at
[email protected] and I'd be happy to hear your feedback.
