Crash with intel graphics
#1
I have asus laptop (i915 driver) and running xbmc-live (ubuntu 9.10) connected to Samsung TV 1360-768

Issue is that everytime it starts both displays and these are activated on resolution 1024x768.
Code:
$ xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 4096 x 4096
VGA1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 410mm x 256mm
   1360x768       60.0 +
   1024x768       75.1     70.1     60.0*
   800x600        72.2     75.0     60.3
   640x480        72.8     75.0     60.0
   720x400        70.1
LVDS1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 304mm x 228mm
   1024x768       60.0*+
   800x600        60.3
   640x480        59.9
TV1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

I can run
Code:
$xrandr --output LVDS1 --off --output VGA1 --auto
and getting just one screen on TV with desired resolution(1360x768), but it doesn't work properly in XBMC itself.
If I setup HD resolution for TV the right part of screen gets black. After restart X wont start and seeing following in crash report:
Code:
03:42:48 T:3078059888 M:1004961792  NOTICE: special://masterprofile/sources.xml

What can I do at this point? Perhaps version of intel driver is not the right one?

As I couldn't start X, deleting ~/.xbmc/userdata/guisettings.xml will reset the resolution back to 1024x768 and makes it working again.

Is there any howto upgrade XBMC-Live distro to 10.10?
I tried Mythbuntu 10.10 with xbmc and it works fine there actually, TROUBLE is that I can't use lirc_sir module because it crashes with "Oops" in the kernel so I can't use remote control and it takes much longer to boot up,
so I'd still prefer to stick with XBMC-Live distro.

Perhaps upgrading only Intel driver and xorg server would do the job? Suppose it might not be that trivial..

Thanks
