Dharma mpg2 playback problem
#1
Hi,
I've been using the Camelot release of XBMC without any problems for some time. I recently, however, updated to Dharma beta 2, and then subsequently to beta 3 and 4, and I found that in these versions some of my mpg2 files wouldn't play, that is to say that not all my mpg's had this problem, only a couple.
Specifically what happens is, after selecting the file in the library, instead of the movie playing, the cover art iteratively pops up in the top left hand corner of the library screen. I re-installed Camelot and these same files played back without a hitch.

My system info is as follows:
OS: Windows XP, SP2
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2.4Ghz, 32 bit
RAM: 2Gb
Video Card: 2 nVidia GeForce 8800GT's in SLi
Video Driver: nVidia 260.99
Sound Card: on board sound (XFX nForce 680i SLi motherboard)
XBMC release: Dharma beta 4, r35068

Media Info Output: http://pastebin.ca/1982446
XBMC Debug Log (over 3 pastebins):
http://pastebin.ca/1982454
http://pastebin.ca/1982455

Thanks for Your help

(PS I'm only posting here as I'm only running on a Windows XP OS, and as such cannot confirm whether this problem affect other platforms)

Xbmc thinks you file is audio only. Can you cut a small piece, make sure it still shows the problem and upload it on a public site?

How was the mpg file created?

I haven't been able to duplicate the problem with a small piece cut from the original file. Thinking that the file might be getting converted via the cutting process, I attempted to save a full movie likewise, and the problem stopped.

The files were ripped directly from DVD's.

It sounds like you remuxed, and that app outputs files correctly recognized by xbmc. Did you try just cutting the beginning of the file? The end of the cut part won't be valid but that's no big deal here.

What program did you use to rip the DVDs?
