I have stumbled all over XBMC forum and elsewhere, but didnt find a sollution.

I would like to create a shortcut on my remote for "Play from here" function.

Does anyone know what function should be called for this to bind it in keyboard.xml settings?

You can just check the skin files to see which function it is.
I don;t have time right now to look it up.

It's a contextual menu item. I don't think it can be executed as a remote command/key. You could get close with a small script that opens the context menu and moves a certain number of positions, then selects, but it might not always be correct.

ah that is right, it is a context menu selection. Would be nice to have the possibility to call it from keyboard.
Maybe it can be done through JSON-RPC ?

I am actually looking for a solution to "play next video automatically" on demand.
Is it possible to toggle with a keyboard shortcut?: Settings -> Videos -> Playback -> Play next video automatically

I would like to assign a button for "play from here" on my remote control, but haven't found the action to use. I guess there still is none? Thanks
