Take a look at these: http://canadacomputers.com/product_info...._id=026397
I bought four of them and have been using them with zsnes for the past couple of weeks. I used zsnes' GUI to map the buttons (a 2 min process) immediately after plugging them in. There was nothing to be done in Ubuntu to get them recognized.
The only trick is to make sure you have the "dmode" activated on the controller before trying to map the up/down/left/right buttons. It still works if it's off, but you have to release the first direction before hitting the second - meaning it's nearly impossible to do some things (like majority of "moves" in SF2) in game. But with "d/mode" on they're flawless.
They also work great with mupen64plus (just had to add the device name to the config file).
These are refurbished (you can also get new for $40), but all 4 of mine (and the 4 that a buddy bought 2 months ago) came in brand new condition. Hard to find a better deal on wireless controllers -especially ones that work without a hassle in Linux.
