For example, under Windows you will not be able to access the Program Files directory using XBMC Special protocols. So why do you want to use the XBMC Special protocols to start emulators?
I run XBMC from a USB drive in a portable mode. (why, that's another issue). On one PC USB flash drive is defined as the drive E:\, on the other - F:\.
