You can use a lightweight windows manager (like opdenbox) and directly start xbmc when with windows manager is started.
There is no other programes running. I juste have a small windows on top left that display xbmc running adv. launcher in a reduce way. (something like 800x600).
If I disable the fullscreen xbmc option of adv. launhcer, I have no control on dolphin-emu but I can control xbmc...
The problem doesn't occure under gnome...
