Should this play using CrystalHD?
#1
CrystalHD is working great for some files, but I'm not too certain what exactly I should expect it to be able to handle. I've got some videos with the specs below that don't play smoothly and I'm wondering if the bitrate is too high or what? Should I expect the ATV OS with a CrystalHD card to be able to play these files? If not, can you tell me what is outside the card's ability so I know what to look out for?

Thanks for any advice.

File 1:
Video Codec: x264
Video Bitrate: 3000 kbps
Video FPS: 59.94
Video Resolution: 720p
Audio Codec: AAC
Audio Bitrate: 128Kbps
Audio Channels: Stereo
Size: 2.40 GB

File 2:
Video Codec: x264
Video Bitrate: 12700 kbps
Video FPS: 25.000
Video Resolution: 1920x1080
Audio Codec: AC3
Audio Bitrate: 384Kbps
Audio Channels: 5.1
Size: 10.14 GB

File 3:
Video Codec: x264
Video FPS: 59.94
Video Resolution: 1280x720
Audio Codec: AC3
Audio Bitrate: 384 Kbps
Size: 3.41 GB

bitrates don't matter, it's codec/profile/level and number of reference frames.

Thanks Davilla,

I've finally discovered mediainfo, so I can include some more information on a new file. Sometimes it plays smooth for maybe ten seconds, but then drops to around 14fps. The CPU-XBMC hovers around 36%.

MediaInfo on the file: http://pastebin.com/8hb11F69

XBMC log file: http://pastebin.com/b1XkNC6s

Should I expect this file to play smoothly in the ATV OS? If not, should I expect it to play smoothly using the Linux boot-disk option (which I've tried but didn't notice a difference, but I'm willing to give another shot)?

If there's a thread explaining how to evaluate a file for playability, I could read up on that as well if someone could point me in that direction.

Thanks.
