Complete Bluetooth Support - including full Configuration Settings GUI within XBMC?

Riffmaker Wrote:Dumb question. How do you install patches on XBMC live? I'd really like to use my bluetooth headphones at night and my only solution right now is to dual boot with windows.

You do it as on any other project. Patch the source code and compile it. Don't get patch confused with what is normally found in games etc.

If your not comfortable with compiling yourself you should wait until a time when its included in mainline.

Hi,

I'm new to linux and xbmc as have run windows and mediaportal for years - im impressed by the speed of the menus etc.

Ive been trying to get my bluetooth keyboard for hours and this ticket for the patch looks really good but I havent seen any posts on it for a few months. I also dont know how to compile a patch file despite trying.

Is it likely to be released or put into some sort of exuctable/add on/install file any time so newbies can benefit from it.

Another good bluetooth post I found was for anyone else trawling forums for hints I nearly got this working):

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=98171

Many Thanks,

Hugh

Sorry to drag up this old thread but i just noticed Llyzs' pull request and got to thinking about what could be achieved.

Have you thought about doing A2DP the other way around where XBMC would act as a receiver and you could send audio to the XBMC to act as a server?

This would act as a type of poor man's airplay, allowing you or your mate's to sit on the sofa and play music to the big HTPC in the lounge.

Not XBMC's job. We can hookup so that pairing perhaps happens in GUI but its the operating system (or more correctly the sound systems) job to handle A2DP. Pulseaudio on linux can do this afaik

Unfortunately I'm too poor to have an iPhone, however millions of devices support a2dp and the like

Surely the same can be said for this entire pull request... It is supposedly possible to achieve this in pulseaudio and some extra software but then that is not running on most XBMC HTPCs as it does not work terribly well with XBMC (at least in never used to).

Bluetooth configuration in XBMC is all good, I have never said anything. Us being an AD2P server however is far out of scope for the application. The configuration of AD2P however is all good. Thats the difference, perhaps we meant the same thing?

Has there been any progress on merging the patch by llyzs?

I've found the Trac ticket at http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/11003 and a pull request at https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/369/files but nothing since then.

XBMC is in feature freeze again at the moment, but it'd be really nice if this could be merged once that's lifted. The trac ticket http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/11003 was opened two years ago and there hasn't been much recent feedback on the pull request at https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/369/ .

The reason why I'd like to see a2dp support is so that I can use my android tablet (nexus 7) as my car stereo using XBMC as my media player. There are other programs available, but XBMC... well those of us who have used it know...
